Buffalo Rock Band Free Henry! is looking for Outgoing and Motivated Individuals Wanted for Concert Promotion and Concert Party, After Party Street Team.

Must be outgoing, trustworthy, and willing to sell products as well as using Public relations, and marketing. Must be willing to party and let go and have fun with a large crowd.

Must be at least 21yrs old or older. ID required.

Must interview in person.

I just wanted to say thank-you to everyone who volunteered to get out to the St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday for Buffalo.com. We were a little worried earlier this week that we would not have an adequate presence at this major annual event - but now, that is certainly no longer a concern - we should have total coverage of this festive day. I'll be out there shooting photos and video myself, so if you see me, say hi - whether you're doing anything for Buffalo.com or not. Complementary beers are graciously accepted!

I should add, by the way, that we've been seeing some stellar work from photographers and writers in recent weeks, and I wanted to say "thank-you" all of you for your interest and efforts. If you're reading this blog, odds are good that this is directed right at you - you're one of the people who are very involved in the program, one of the people who have helped make Spotted one of the biggest Web successes in Western New York and YourHub one of the most ground-breaking activities in online news market. We couldn't have done it without you.

The Value of Interning, Part I

If you can afford it, intern, even it isn’t paid (most aren’t anyways). This shows dedication, not to mention you are gaining experience and getting valuable additions for your resume while your searching for a job as well as expanding your network and contacts. Eventually, this economy will turn around and if you are sticking it out with a company, when they start to grow and expand again, you’re already versed with their operations, structure and culture. They would certainly prefer to hire someone who already “knows the ropes.”

Ultimate Bridal Show - April 5 - Looking for multiple volunteers for multimedia project

I'm unable to find a link for it at this precise moment, but I am looking for 3-4 interns to help me cover the Ultimate Wedding Show on Sunday, April 5 from roughly noon to 5 PM at Macy's at the Walden-Galleria Mall. It's the finale of the big bridal photo contest sponsored by BuffaloBrides.com.

What I would ideally like to do is to have a team that can shoot video, do on-camera interviews, write blogs/post to Twitter, and take photos. We would upload our content directly from the site, giving it a "live" feel.

Everyone will have a chance to do everything - that is, the writer will have a chance to do interviews or run the camera or take pictures, the photographer can do some quick writing, the cameraperson may also be sending Twitter messages, etc. This would be real fast-paced and, I think, a lot of fun.

This is a model that we would like to pursue for multiple events this summer (including a lot of fun stuff), so this would be a test run to see, logistically, how this works, what doesn't work, and what we may need to tweak.

If you are interested, please let me know. I will be there myself, and I'm going to be doing all of the same stuff that you are. I'm looking forward to this.

Team-building (literally)

You all know (or know of) Deanna Russo, my fellow manager here at Buffalo.com. On Saturday, Aug. 15, Deanna's not-for-profit organization, Crusade Against Impaired Driving, will be holding its second annual one-pitch softball tournament.

A few of us put together a team last year...and I think we had 7 people show up (we were not very strong in terms of communication and organization). The tournament was a success, raising $3,000 to fight drunk driving, but our team got manhandled and was bounced out of the double-elimination event after two games.

This year, it would be nice to get a team put together well ahead of time...so if anyone is interested in playing, please let me know...it would be great to put together a Buffalo.com team of 12 or 13 people and to help support Deanna's cause (check out the Web site for the full story behind the organization).

I really don't care about winning or anything, but it would be a chance to have a little fun and for everyone to get to know each other better.

I was thinking about this a little bit, as well. We have occasional Buffalo.com events for the interns to get together - the recent tour, the holiday party, last year we had a mixer out at Ilio DiPaolo's...would you be interested in more stuff like that? It could be as structured as a Buffalo.com team in a bowling or softball league, or as simple as an email note for anyone who is interested to meet at a local watering hole to hang out. I am definitely open to suggestions on this topic, as well.

This has to be quick because I was an hour late for work today courtesy of the awful, awful traffic on the 219, but I wanted to share a couple nice notes about recognition our interns have recently received.

• Rachelle Roberts had her article from the Steve Winwood concert posted on Mr. Winwood's MySpace page. You have to be a "friend" of Mr. Winwood to view it, but if you have a MySpace account, I don't think he is real picky about who wants to "friend" him. Ah, winter in WNY

I am not a fan of winter. I do not like the cold, or the snow, or inching along in traffic at 10 MPH, as I did this morning. I live in Orchard Park and take the 219 to the 90-West to the 1-90 North to get to work in the morning, and the fastest I went today was probably 20 MPH. And that was for about 20 yards...and I almost got drilled by a tractor-trailer on the 1-90 merge because this guy almost missed his exit, so he decided to drive across two lanes of barely-moving traffic to make the turn. Good times, people.

Anyhow...my Buffalo.com "Good Soldier of the Day" award goes to Galina Tolmacheva, who braved the weather this morning to go to the Albright-Knox to take photos of an art installation that was canceled due to the weather. Sorry, Galina!

It's been rescheduled for tomorrow, so we'll see what happens...in the meantime, if you see me, I will probably be shaking my fist at the sky.
