Led by a cross-border collaboration that’s taking Buffalo by storm, the Labatt Blue Light Border Cross concert series is returning in May with an eclectic lineup! The final show will feature Toronto trio Royal Crowns and “Rockabilly Filly” from Austin, Texas, Rosie Flores.
Blue Light Border Cross celebrates the bond between our two countries and the waters we share, while continuing Buffalo’s great legacy as a gateway city for Canadian artists into the American music scene and supporting the preservation and protection efforts of Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper. Each night will feature a raffle of Labatt Blue Light gear.

The pop punk band will perform with special guests It’s A Firefight, Impact, With the Punches and Beyond City Lights.
I Call Fives has become known for their high-energy sound and relentless stage presence. Identified as front-runners in the next generation of pop-punk, the band is ready to take charge of the opportunity to assert themselves against the backdrop of the ever-exploding New Jersey scene by presenting audiences with straight-forward, feel-good pop-punk.

Buffalo Select Chorus 5th Annual Concert- 7:30 pm- Ashbury Hall at Babeville
Buffalo Select Chorus, with national recording artist Joseph Wooten, will perform their 5th Annual Concert on Wednesday. The concert and reception to follow is free and open-to-the-public. The evening is a mixed musical repertoire of local musicians and the supremely talented Buffalo Select Chorus.
Buffalo Select Chorus is the only chorus made up of Buffalo high school students, with nine different schools represented. The Chorus is a talented, dynamic group that has persevered despite challenges for funding in the arts in the Buffalo schools.

Food Matters Film Series: King Corn Screening- doors 6:30- Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center
Film has become a powerful medium when exploring controversial topics or when making a point about a particular subject. For the last several years those concerned with the state of our food supply in this country have done well in exploring, exposing and initiating dialogue on this critical subject. The Lexington Cooperative Market and Edible Buffalo have joined together to present Food Matters: A Four Film Series.
King Corn was first released in 2007 and explores the tenuous topic of corn production in the United States. As America’s most subsidized crop, this film follows to young gentleman as they try to follow their corn crop as it enters our food system. What they learn is both troubling and eye-opening as it raises many questions about how we eat and how we farm. As more and more industrial food companies are coming under fire for their prevalent use of high fructose corn syrup in their products, this film continues to be timely and relevant.

HEY YOU (A Tribute to Pink Floyd) –8:00 pm - Riviera Theatre
On June 22, 1973 Pink Floyd played the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium on their “Dark Side of the Moon” tour. It was the only time that Pink Floyd would play the Memorial Auditorium, and it was the last time the band ever played Buffalo. On May 29th, Hey You (A Tribute to Pink Floyd) will re-create that show using Pink Floyd’s actual set list. Lazlo Hollyfeld formed in the winter of 2003 in Buffalo, NY. Bassist Chris Gangarossa and keyboardist Scott Molloy began by trying to focus on creating a purely instrumental sound based on the ideas of simplicity, and dominant rhythms and textures. After the addition of guitarist Jeff Mcleod and drummer Matt Felski, Lazlo Hollyfeld quickly became one of the most known groups in upstate New York.

Burnham is an American comedian, singer-songwriter, musician, actor, and Internet celebrity. Writing comedic and satirical songs with a politically incorrect slant, his YouTube videos have received more than 60.3 million views as of April 2010.[ His first EP—Bo Fo Sho—was released in June 2008 by Comedy Central Records, and his first full-length self titled album was released by the same label in March 2009. On January 31, 2010 it was announced that Burnham finished #2 overall in voting in 2010's Comedy Central Stand-up Showdown.

Lloyd was only 18 years old when he made his major mark on the music scene with the release of his 2004 debut CD, South Side, which spawned the Top 20 Ashanti collabo of the same name. In the years that followed, Lloyd has proven himself as a legitimate industry player, generating hits like 2006’s chart-topping “You” and the infectious “Get It Shawty,” which saw top two placements last year. Both hit singles were featured on his gold-selling sophomore disc, Street Love. In August 2008, Lloyd returned with his third effort, Lessons In Love, which featured the hit single, “Girls Around the World” with Lil Wayne. The irresistible laid back track which samples Eric B & Rakim’s “Paid In Full”, was co-produced by Lloyd along with his Street Love crew, Jasper Cameron & Reese. The Hype Williams-directed music video was a futuristic, sexy clip that topped the BET “106 & Park” countdown, once again solidifying Lloyd amongst the R&B elite.

Nestled along the scenic Niagara River, the Village of Lewiston will celebrate one of its most famous natural resources; the smelt. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation deemed Lewiston as one of the best places in the nation for Smelt Dipping. On May 7th beginning at 6 pm The Niagara River Anglers and the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce will batter and fry hundreds of pounds of smelt at the Lewiston Waterfront. The adjacent Silo Restaurant will serve up chowder, beer, WNY’s Famous Beef on Weck and more. Live music. On Friday night come and see a real live smelt queen add to the fish fun. Area restaurants along the Village’s main street will offer their own culinary version of smelt.

GUSTO AT THE GALLERY: The Vogel’s - Free Fridays from 3 to 10 pm
Beginning in the 1960s, Herbert Vogel, a postal worker, and Dorothy Vogel, a librarian, amassed a remarkable contemporary art collection using modest means. Recently they decided, in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art, to gift fifty works each to one museum in each of the fifty states. Representing New York State, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery is the recipient of the Vogel’s generous gift. Join us to celebrate this extraordinary couple’s story in the final days of the exhibition Fifty Works for Fifty States: The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection with a panel discussion moderated by Chief Curator Douglas Dreishpoon including special guests and a unique repeat film screening of the documentary about the Vogel’s, Herb and Dorothy, directed by Megumi Sasaki.

Sky Eats Airplane is an American metalcore band, formed in Fort Worth, Texas, in 2005. The band is signed to indie label Equal Vision Records and most recently released their self-titled full-length album through the label in July 2008. GUSTO AT THE GALLERY: The Vogel’s - Free Fridays from 3 to 10 pm
Beginning in the 1960s, Herbert Vogel, a postal worker, and Dorothy Vogel, a librarian, amassed a remarkable contemporary art collection using modest means. Recently they decided, in collaboration with the National Gallery of Art, to gift fifty works each to one museum in each of the fifty states. Representing New York State, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery is the recipient of the Vogel’s generous gift. Join us to celebrate this extraordinary couple’s story in the final days of the exhibition Fifty Works for Fifty States: The Dorothy and Herbert Vogel Collection with a panel discussion moderated by Chief Curator Douglas Dreishpoon including special guests and a unique repeat film screening of the documentary about the Vogel’s, Herb and Dorothy, directed by Megumi Sasaki.
Lewiston Smelt Festival Lewiston Waterfront - Village of Lewiston- 6:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m.
Nestled along the scenic Niagara River, the Village of Lewiston will celebrate one of its most famous natural resources; the smelt. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation deemed Lewiston as one of the best places in the nation for Smelt Dipping. On May 7th beginning at 6 pm The Niagara River Anglers and the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce will batter and fry hundreds of pounds of smelt at the Lewiston Waterfront. The adjacent Silo Restaurant will serve up chowder, beer, WNY’s Famous Beef on Weck and more. Live music. On Friday night come and see a real live smelt queen add to the fish fun. Area restaurants along the Village’s main street will offer their own culinary version of smelt.

Celebrity First Friday featuring Lloyd – The Town Ballroom- 11:00 p.m.
Lloyd was only 18 years old when he made his major mark on the music scene with the release of his 2004 debut CD, South Side, which spawned the Top 20 Ashanti collabo of the same name. In the years that followed, Lloyd has proven himself as a legitimate industry player, generating hits like 2006’s chart-topping “You” and the infectious “Get It Shawty,” which saw top two placements last year. Both hit singles were featured on his gold-selling sophomore disc, Street Love. In August 2008, Lloyd returned with his third effort, Lessons In Love, which featured the hit single, “Girls Around the World” with Lil Wayne. The irresistible laid back track which samples Eric B & Rakim’s “Paid In Full”, was co-produced by Lloyd along with his Street Love crew, Jasper Cameron & Reese. The Hype Williams-directed music video was a futuristic, sexy clip that topped the BET “106 & Park” countdown, once again solidifying Lloyd amongst the R&B elite.
