Events list 12/8

With a snowstorm approaching WNY, this bears repeating. Buffalo.com does not expect any contributor to endanger his/her life to cover a story for the website. If the weather does impede you from covering an event, simply call, text, or email me.

Here are some events that aren’t date specific:

• This wasn’t snatched up last week so thought I’d post it again: Fairgrounds Festival of Lights, ALL NEW DISPLAYS! ALL NEW INDOOR ANIMATED LIGHT SHOW! A one-of-a-kind holiday event for everyone featuring a magical drive through of brand new lights displays, Holiday Magic Show with Kandy Kane, indoor animated light show, Santa, Reindeer Carriage Rides on weekends, indoor nostalgic kiddie rides, shopping, food and more...Event runs November 27-19, December 3-6, 10-23, 26-27, 31 and January 1-2 Gates open 5:30-9:30pm Grounds and Buildings open until 10pm

• Rotary Rink at Fountain Plaza is now open and celebrating its 12th Anniversary season as Downtown Buffalo’s only free-to-the-public outdoor skating rink! Rotary Rink is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday the Rink is open from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday it is open from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Let me know if you’re interested in writing a “winter-related” article or if you’d like to snap some photos at the rink.

• The historic Wilcox Mansion as well as the new Carriage House will be decked out in grand style with seasonal décor and greens for the 2009 Victorian Christmas at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site. Let me know what dates you’re interested in and we’ll set something up.

Irish Tenors Holiday Concert: The Center for the Arts at the University at Buffalo will present The Irish Tenors - Holiday Concert on Friday at 8pm in the Mainstage Theatre, located at the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

Charles Dickens Presents: A CHRISTMAS CAROL: Mike Randall - (Charles Dickens) A lover of Buffalo history and presenter of one person shows, Mike Randall spent a year researching, & studying to recreate Mr. Dickens's presentation of his most well known story "A Christmas Carol". MusicalFare Theatre, Performances run Friday at 8pm

Endymion Wassail Concert: The Carnegie Art Center will host a Holiday concert by Endymion, the music group will share its blend of fiddle tunes, jigs, ballads, dance tunes, and Holiday Celtic and English music. The band members are Robbie Krizan, guitar; Karen Koch, flutes and whistles; Maureen Bluett, percussion; Joy Batkin, fiddle; and Stephanie Leguori, harp, 7pm

3rd Annual Snow Ball Run 5K for the Morlock Foundation Ellicott Creek Fire Hall, 45 S. Ellicott Creek Rd, Amherst, NY, 10AM
