Kenny Rogers Seneca Niagara Events Center 8 p.m.
We already have a photographer going but this would be a great event for anyone interested in writing a review about the show!
For more than five decades, Kenny Rogers has delivered memorable songs, drawing fans among rock, pop, soul and country audiences. From his first rockabilly group, The Scholars, formed in 1956 to Kenny Rogers and The First Edition, his music has touched millions. Then with his solo country career hits like “Love Lifted Me,” “Lucille,” “Sweet Music Man,” and “Love or Something Like It,” Rogers’ success continued to soar. Fast-forward to "The Gambler," a story song so vivid it not only delighted country and pop fans, it also became a TV movie, starring Rogers himself in the title role and launching his acting career. During the 1980s, he sang such romantic hits as "Through The Years," "She Believes In Me," "You Decorated My Life," and "Lady," the biggest song of his career. His songs are classics today, and his performance reminds audiences everywhere that his talent is just as vibrant and meaningful as it was fifty years ago.

Originally formed in 1987, the Subdudes combined tight vocal melodies, mostly acoustic instrumentation, and a strong emphasis on songwriting into a musical mix of blues, folk, r&b, country, Cajun, funk, gospel, and rock & roll. The band broke up in 1997, but reunited at Jazz Fest 2003. Since then they’ve been drawing from the great forms of American music to create their trademark New Orleans flavored Americana. This is a group that perfectly blends harmonies and melodies into great music and a good time.

Imani Winds Concert -Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall- 7:30 pm
Concert with the Imani Winds, a Grammy-nominated, multicultural ensemble of flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn, presented by the Music Department. This event is free and open to the public.
Class A-2 Sectional Basketball: 2-East vs. 3-Lafayette, 7:00pm; 1-Maryvale vs. 4-Cheektowaga, 8:30pm.
The frenetic styles of East and Lafayette High Schools will be pitted against one another at 7 – expect a high scoring game. East is in the midst of a crazy year – Head Coach Starling Bryant suspended all of his starters and several bench players because they did not meet his academic standards during the season. After missing some regular season games, all have been re-admitted to the team and will play at Buff State this week/weekend. Lafayette is the oldest public high school in Buffalo, and evidenced by its tiny gym. Ask how playing on the spacious Buffalo State hardwood differed for better or worse. These two storylines alone would make for a compelling story.
The Maryvale High School Flyers, led by Coach Mark Kensy, take on upset-minded Cheektowaga in the second game on Tuesday night at Buffalo State College (8:30pm). Maryvale is a regular sectional finalist, while Cheektowaga plays its best basketball late in the season. Keep an eye on Flyers Bryce Shepard and Blair Estarfaa.
Dan R. is already taking photos for Maryvale/Cheek, but if there is an interested writer, Maryvale’s head coach is a fiery dude – worth an interview.
