Here are the top 6 events we would like to cover:

Thursday:

Benefit Show for Spiral Scratch- The Mohawk Place- 7:00 p.m.- 11:30 p.m.
Benefit show for Spiral Scratch records with:
Failures' Union, Everything Falls Apart, Roger Bryan and The Orphans, All Of Them Witches, Fences Make Good Neighbors, Bill Nehill (stand-up??!!), and DJ Donny Shaft
All proceeds will go to help Spiral Scratch recover...
If you haven't heard, Spiral Scratch, an independent new & used record shop in Buffalo, burned down last week. they lost most of their inventory, and have a lot of rebuilding ahead of them.

Art Alive: A Walking, Talking Art Contest Albright-Knox Gallery – 12:00 pm- 2:00 pm
Join the excitement as Western New Yorkers bring famous works of art to life at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery’s fourteenth annual Art Alive: A Walking, Talking Art Contest. The exhibition of living art will be held on the Gallery Grounds across from Delaware Park. The event is free and open to the public, and will include music and activities for families.

Buffalo Bills Open Practice- Ralph Wilson Stadium - 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Bills Open Practice includes complimentary parking and admission and features the newest members of the 2010 Buffalo Bills, including first-round draft pick running back C.J. Spiller. Fans are invited to enjoy interactive games, photo opportunities, reduced concession pricing and new 2010 Buffalo Bills merchandise. In addition, the Buffalo Jills Cheerleaders will make their 2010 debut performance before practice.

Hard Rock at the Falls Free Outdoor Summer Concert Series - Old Falls Street - 6 p.m. Gord Downie will perform. Gordon Downie is a Canadian rock musician, writer and occasional actor. He is the lead singer and lyricist for the Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip. He has released two solo albums, Coke Machine Glow in 2001 and Battle of the Nudes in 2003; the former was sold with a book of poetry of the same name included with the CD. Canadian indie band The Dinner Is Ruined, also called The Country of Miracles, served as his backing band for both solo albums.
Downie's third solo album, The Grand Bounce, is scheduled for release June 8, 2010.

Run for Rosa's 5K- Masonic Lodge, Cheektowaga- 9:00 a.m.
The 3rd Annual Run for Rosa's sanctioned 5K race will once again be held at the Masonic Lodge in Cheektowaga, NY. During the event there will be our pancake breakfast, music and lots of door prize drawings for all the participants and their families. All proceeds from the Run for the Rosa’s will directly benefit the clients and programs of the Renaissance Campus, supported by the Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign and the general fund of the Paul and Elaine Rosa’s Foundation whose mission is to support children in need.

2010 Joann Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition Semi-Finalist Performance- Buffalo & Erie County Public Library- 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Join the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library for beautiful music at lunchtime! The Library will host an international Semi-Finalist of the 2010 Joann Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition (presented next week by the Buffalo Philharmonic and WNED) at the Fables Café, main floor. 21st Annual Gelatin Splash Banchetti by Rizzo‘s -6:00 pm -9:00 pm
How does it feel to slide into 1,000 gallons of jiggly gelatin? You can find out by participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 21st Annual Gelatin Splash! Or challenge your boss, best friend, co-worker, relative, etc. to take the big plunge to help fight leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease & myeloma!
Participants are asked to obtain a minimum of $300 in sponsorship money from friends, relatives, co-workers, corporate donations, etc. for them to slide into 1,000 gallons of jiggly gelatin in honor or in loving memory of a local cancer patient. Each participant receives the official Gelatin Splash t-shirt and food and beverage coupons.

Penned by Ireland’s greatest living dramatist, Lovers is a play in two parts, Winners and Losers. Set in Catholic Ireland in the 1960’s, Winners explores the young love of a teenage couple about to be married. They meet to study but instead reveal to one another their hopes, fears and dreams. Losers is a comic masterpiece, as a pair of middle aged lovers deal with the challenges of a demanding and pious invalid mother who would frustrate their amorous ambitions.

Richard Lewis- Seneca Niagara Casino- 8:00 p.m.
Renowned stand-up comedian Richard Lewis takes the stage at the Bear’s Den for a night of laughs. Lewis is perhaps best known for his recurring role on the TV show Curb Your Enthusiasm, and has received Emmy and Screen Actors Guild award nominations for his performances. Comedy Central has recognized Lewis as one of the Top 50 stand-up comedians of all time, and GQ Magazine lists him among the “20th Century’s Most Influential Humorists.” Lewis wrote a memoir, The Other Great Depression, in 2000, and is also attributed to the origination of the phrase “the [blank] from hell” from Yale’s Book of Quotations.

“Renaissance In Rhythm” - Riviera Theatre- 2:00 pm & 7:00 pm
The students of the Clark Academy of Performing Arts present their annual talent showcase, “Renaissance in Rhythm”. An evening of entertainment for all ages through dance and theater. The evening will include guest performances by the world renown Matthew Clark Dancers, and So You Think You Can Dance finalist, Everett Smith.

Crazy Jake’s, Favorite’s Pizzeria, Marlboro Inn and Sanborn Pizza will compete for the best chicken wing, which will be judged by the “people’s choice” and a celebrity panel of judges.
An event celebrating the 60's to signify the opening of NCCC, while featuring live local 60's themed bands, chicken wings and basket auctions.

Early Show - City of Kings - Late Show - Cyber-Cide Industrial/Metal Party
Club Diablo- 5:30 p.m. & 9:00 p.m.

Chae Hawk- Soundlab- 5:00 p.m.
In a world where Kanye West can put out an album like "808's and Heartbreak," one has to wonder about the future of hip-hop. As labels and publishers rush to defend their copyrights, it seems that the days of classic sample-laden hip-hop tracks are numbered. Enter a new wave of hip-hop youth, who have rejected the classic approach for simplistic, home-produced beats. Such is the approach of Buffalo's own Chae Hawk.
